Wanted: Participants for Study on Impact of challenging behaviour on siblings

magpie's picture

My name is Doireann O’Brien. I am a postgraduate student in the School of Education, Queens University Belfast. I am studying an MSc in Autistic Spectrum Disorders. My dissertation project will be an examination of the perception and experience of parents/siblings of people who have been diagnosed with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder. The choice for this project reflects my own experience as a sibling of a person with Autistic Spectrum Disorders and the lack of research in this important area.

In my project I will compare the reported experience of parents and siblings, focusing on the impact of challenging behaviour. This will be examined by method of a questionnaire. I will also further examine this area by holding a select number of semi structured interviews with siblings.

The questionnaires should take approx fifteen minutes to complete. Interviews will be arranged beforehand and should last approximately twenty minutes.

There is an attached consent form in this letter which I would ask you, the organization to read and sign if you are willing to participate in the project. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.
