A major fund-raising campaign is taking place in aid of MWB Autism Support. In late October, or early November, six people are going to take part in a tandem skydive, in the hope of raising funds for this new organisation.
The six brave people are: Dave Carrig, Michael Bryson, Kevin Daly, Ronan Clarke, Sean Crossan and Brendan Doyle.
Sponsorship cards can be found in local businesses throughout Longford, and from Dave Carrig on 085 741 2541.
MWB Autism Support is a group that was set up in October 2009 to support both the children who have been diagnosed with Autism and their parents.
There are regular support meetings in which parents and carers can meet and get to know others living in similar situations.
Occasionally, there are guest speakers willing to give advice on topics such as entitlements, behavioural problems and any other problems.
The group also arranges social outings for children and their siblings. These include trips to Mad Stones, Forest Park, Mega Bowl, Cinema, and many others. Halloween and Christmas parties are held for children and adults.
