The Health Service Executive says an investigation into a residential care centre for people with intellectual disabilities in Carrick on Shannon does not involve any member of staff at the facility.
Its understood parents of a young girl complained to management after they discovered unexplained marks on their daughter's back and arms after staying at St Ciaran's residential centre in November last year.
A Garda investigation was launched in January while the HSE is currently awaiting the findings of an independent investigation.
While the HSE stresses the incident does not involve any staff member, it says it will await the outcome of these separate investigations before devising any risk assessments or further protection plans.
