With a rise in prevalence of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) to nearly 1:100 it is highly likely that staff in health, education and social care professions will meet individuals diagnosed with ASD, even if they are not specialising in the area.
-
This seminar is aimed at students about to qualify and staff already in health, education and social care professions who are non-specialist in ASD.
-
We will provide the audience with an awareness & knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) , including Aspergers Syndrome.
-
We will look at the diagnostic process and the impact that these conditions have on the health, education and social care of individuals diagnosed with ASD and staff working in health, education and social care settings.
-
Group work is included in the seminar that will give the audience a better understanding of how to respond when they meet individuals with a diagnosis of ASD.
• The seminar takes place at the School of Education, QUB, 69 University Street Belfast, BT7 1HL. Room G13 (Cathcart Room).
