Explore Mind Over Matter at Free Health & Wellbeing Evening in Sligo
Expert guidance on life skills and stress management will be provided by Fiona Hoban, Counsellor & Communications Consultant, who is one of the speakers at a series of free meetings to take place in Cork, Kilkenny & Sligo. The Health & Wellbeing evenings are organised by The National Dairy Council in association with the local co-op in each region.
In presentations entitled “Improve Your Wellbeing – Mind Over Matter,” at two the events and “A Mindful Approach to Wellbeing” at the third event, Fiona Hoban will be challenging the audience to think about how emotional needs should be balanced as part of your health and wellbeing.
“Nature has programmed us with emotional as well as physical needs. If our emotional needs are not met in balanced ways, we can find ourselves stressed, anxious, depressed or even angry,” says Ms. Hoban.
Ms. Hoban will discuss how we can ‘audit’ our emotional needs to find out if there are areas which we could adjust in order to improve our wellbeing and happiness.
Awareness Invites Choice
“It is healthy for all of us to think about our self esteem, emotional connections, achievements and expectations – or whether we feel in control of our lives,” says Ms. Hoban. “It could be that a person simply needs something to challenge them or needs to feel appreciated – but awareness is key, because it always invites choice.”
Members of the public can hear and meet Fiona Hoban at the following free NDC Health and Wellbeing evenings:

Dr Catherine Logan, Nutrition manager with the National Dairy Council, says that too often, she meets people who base their food choices and dieting on mis-information or out of date information.
“These free events give people a chance to hear latest updates about health and nutrition in a friendly environment; and to talk with qualified nutrition specialists,” said Dr. Logan.
“We hope that these information meetings will have ‘something for everybody’, with encouraging tips about what small steps can make big differences to your health and wellbeing,” says Dr. Logan.
The National Dairy Council evening will also include a discussion with independent leading dietitian Paula Mee.
Further details will be announced in advance of each event.
