Therapy

Autism Initiatives would like to invite Teens and Pre-teens with Autism to join us for fun activities and adventures including sports events, day trips and arts and crafts. 

Participants will be supported on a 1:1 basis.

Events will take place from 10.30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Monaghan Harps Complex on following days:

1st & 15th October 2011,
1st & 2nd of November 2011

Leitrim County Council has installed a sensory room for children with special needs in its library in Mohill.  This will provide educational and therapeutic supports for these children in a fun environment.

It is envisaged that when it is open the room will be booked in advance by parents and carers of children with special needs who will accompany them and assist them when using the equipment. There will be no charge for the use of the facilities.

First 100 Days Kit (by Autism Speaks) is "A tool kit to assist families in getting the critical information they need in the first 100 days after an autism diagnosis."  Highly recommended if  your child is has developmental delays and/or suspected/diagnosed Autism Spectrm Disorder.  (The booklet is at the bottom of this article)

What topics does the booklet cover? 

1. Give "go play" and pull child back to you by back of shirt. Do several times. It usually builds a smile and a lot of times when you don't grab the shirt the child will back up to you to do so.
