Judo Assist Ireland is a national program in the process of development by the Inclusion/Disability Commission of the Irish Judo Association.
The program is designed to further promote the Sport for ALL concept and to introduce the fantastic Olympic Sport of Judo to a wide variety of disability groups and individuals across Ireland.

For children and teenager’s not availing of the Summer camp we are offering a block of four free one-to-one swimming lessons with a fully qualified swimming instructor, who specialises in special needs children, in Drumshanbo.
Leitrim County Council and the FAI are running a FREE community soccer programme in Carrick on Shannon and Manorhamilton for all special needs children.

Last year saw the rejuvenation of the Easter weekend five a side soccer tournament and this proved to be a big success with both with players and supporters alike. The aim of the tournament is to raise much needed funds for two schools which are helping to enhance the standards of life for the children who attend them while providing entertainment and exercise for the people of the town and the surrounding areas.
Councillor Orla Leyden has proposed that a seven acre field owned by the local council in the Lisnamult area of Roscommon town be used for an all weather sports area to cope with a range of sports as well as giving Special Olympics athletes somewhere to train.
At present many sports groups have to travel to Castelrea or Athlone to use all weather facilities and a proposal to develop the Lisnamult site would be aided by the local Residents' and Tenants' Association, chaired by Anthony Doolan, who are open to working with other groups for the good of their community.

WASSA is an acronym for Waterford Autism Social & Sports Action. This organisation was set up earlier this year by local parents. The groups objective is to support children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) through a range of social and sports activities.
"Surf 2 Heal is a voluntary group of Surfers whose aim it is to bring children with autism into our great sport. Surfing has proven not only to be great fun for them but also possibly unlock some hidden talents and even therapeautic benefits!".
"Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership launched its new Sports Inclusion Disability Project in May 2008." A sports SIDO officer oversees the project with the aim to increase participation by people with a disability in sport and active recreation.
We now have a Sports Inclusion Disability Officer (SIDO) appointed to the Donegal Sports Partnership. The role of the SIDO is to promote sport and physical activity amongst people with disabilities in Donegal and to raise awareness on the benefits of their participation.
