Autistic school reduces staffing hours to ensure its survival

No Government funding for Kiltimagh facility

The privately funded Áthas School located in Kiltimagh, which is the only specialised school in Mayo which caters for children diagnosed with an autism disorder, through using applied behaviour analytic services, has implemented cuts across all its staffing hours.

Reek’s week challenge reaches four-year high (24/3/10)

AN IMPRESSIVE 195 climbers completed the annual seven-day Croagh Patrick Challenge in aid of autism this year, while several hundred others climbed the mountain during the week-long event.

Organised by Johnny Oosten and Pat Kearns, 2010 marks the fourth annual challenge.

The Croagh Patrick Challenge is organised by a group of people from Mayo, mainly parents, who got together to raise funds for children with Autism in Mayo. They organise an event every March called the "The Seven Day in a Row Croagh Patrick Challenge". Many people take on the challenge for the full 7 days and many others support them by climbing one or more days.

Boyzone star says sorry for no show (Western People, 9/9/09)

BOYZONE star, Keith Duffy made an emotional apology to the organisers of the Croagh Patrick seven-day challenge in aid of autism for failing to make the climb this year. Having come to Mayo to launch the event on Friday last, Keith apologised for not showing up to climb the Reek, as he had promised.

Keith Duffy to meet Jordan — the inspiration behind Reek challenge

Boyzone star Keith Duffy, the patron for Irish Autism Action, will be on a tour of Mayo today (Friday) where he will meet Jordan Kearns, the young boy who was the inspiration behind the hugely successful Croagh Patrick Seven Day in a Row Challenge.

The Boyzone crooner will launch the fourth annual challenge which takes place from March 11 to 17 2010 as part of his visit.

We are a group of people from Mayo, mainly parents, who got together to raise funds for children with Autism in Mayo. We organise an event every March called the "The Seven Day in a Row Croagh Patrick Challenge". Many people take on the challenge for the full 7 days and many others support us by climbing one or more days. Our main aim is to help fund the opening of an ABA School (Applied Behaviour Analysis) in Mayo.
