Carers Association urges carers to join campaign (OceanFM, 7/6/2011)

The Carers Association in Sligo is urging carers across the North West
to join them in the fight for a better life for those in the profession. There are currently over 2400 carers in Sligo.

The organisation has unveiled its "One Voice" Campaign in the wake of
last week's Prime Time Investigates programme, which conducted extensive research into the effects of cuts on family carers.  The programme found that 82 percent of carers have been affected by cutbacks in State services.

Mirenda Rosenberg Autism Fundraiser Concert, BallyShannon, 9/Sept/2010

9 Sep 2010 20:30
Europe/Dublin
I’m a superhero. By day I parent two little boys with Autism, by night (and weekends) I don an evening gown, grab a radio mic and perform soul music in front of crowds of people. I’m lucky to have such a release, but so many autistic families aren't.

...I’m every kind of excited to announce that our Charity this year is the Autism Family Support Group, Donegal. This organization helps families by providing seminars, summer programs, and family support as well as creating Autism Awareness.

The families of up to 200 Donegal children who suffer from autism are facing an anxious wait over a review which could see an important home help service cut.

Donegal Autism Services provides the Family Support Service to help the development of children with autism. Families who receive the service say it is vital in helping them to manage the strict routines and challenging behaviour of children.
